100m Butterfly Hopeful: Chad Le Clos

Tonight is the 100m Butterfly swimming semi-finals. There are 2 heats, heat 1 having the noteworthy Olympic champ Michael Phelps and in heat 2, and also the fastest qualifying time, Chad Le Clos!

I hope nobody misses tonight’s semi’s, my parents gonna have to change the channel lol.
I’m interested in seeing whether Chad will do the right thing and snatch gold from Phelps, though even in his heat Phelps has competition from the Polish  Konrad Czerniak.

Though now at 20:32 I think. we have two South Africans in the 50m freestyle semi’s; Gideon Louw and Roland Schoeman! Make us proud julle!

The Gold Medals are Rowing In, 9 More To Go Team SA

This afternoon I got on the car to drive home, to be met by news that the Lightweight Men’s Four SA team took gold. It was just a fantastic feeling that we made 8th in the Olympic medal list, as I write this post we’re at ten though 🙂

Congratulations to Sizwe Lawrence Ndlovu, John Smith, Matthew Brittain and James Thompson! Though I must be critical of Lawrence as he kept saying “I” during his interview with David O’Sullivan on Talk Radio 702 today, I understand that he was the lead, but he ought have given more credit to his fellow team players.

So to date, China leads the scoreboard, followed by USA, then after a good margin follow the rest of us. Egypt’s still the only other African country with a medal aside from South Africa of course. I’m personally still hopeful, we have a few events tonight, I’m not sure how many are finals though. I support Chad in pulling out of the medley to focus on his 100m race tonight :), and of course there’s still more as the nation’s absolute favourite Caster Semenya still has to show the world what she is made of!

Once again, here’s the latest medal map
